Worship at the Cathedral depends on the efforts of volunteers whose support and dedication allows the services to run smoothly. We invite you to consider being involved in any of the following areas:
Youth acolytes in the second grade or above may begin serving at the Sunday morning services. After a required training session, they may be scheduled to serve. Acolytes also serve at weddings and other special services. For more information, contact Barber Potts.
We use adult acolytes at some services. There is a required training session. For more information, contact Barber Potts.
Members of the Altar Guild set up for the Eucharistic services on Sunday and for the weekday Eucharist’s at 12:15. Members are trained and mentored by senior members. For information, contact Connie Lynn.
(formerly known as Chalice Bearers) are lay persons authorized to administer the consecrated elements at a celebration of Holy Eucharist. These individuals are appointed by the Dean and licensed by the Bishop. Training is required and a commitment to serve on a rotation of our services.
A lay person authorized to take the consecrated elements in a timely manner following a celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the celebration. Training is required and these individuals should be confirmed communicants in good standing subject to the guidelines established by the Bishop and nominated by the Dean.
The members of this guild work with the local florist and arrange additional flowers for the Cathedral, as well as preparing the flowers for major holidays. There is a sign-up sheet located in the Cathedral Café for parishioners to donate flowers for the altar weekly. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Eileen Strater.
These persons read the lessons from Scripture at the Sunday services. Training is provided to interested persons.
The members of this guild assist the clergy and families in need when a meal and hospitality would be comforting. You are asked to serve a three month term, along with others, each year. For more information, contact Linda Brodie.
Our Cathedral ushers greet persons attending Sunday services, distribute bulletins and assist in the general flow of the service. There are usher teams and a team normally serves once a month. To volunteer, contact Candace Griffith.
The verger is appointed by the Dean and helps to design and organize the liturgies of the Cathedral. For more information, contact Dean Brodie.
These people work along with the Dean to assist wedding couples in the preparation of their wedding at the Cathedral. They are present and assist at the rehearsal and the wedding service. If you are interested in serving with this ministry, contact Linda Brodie.
(formerly known as Lay Readers) are lay persons who regularly lead public worship under the direction of a member of the clergy. Training is required and these individuals should be confirmed communicants in good standing subject to the guidelines established by the Bishop and nominated by the Dean.
