At the Cathedral, we take Jesus’ commandment to care for those less fortunate to heart. We have an active feeding ministry that prepares meals and food donations for shelters, feeding centers, and food pantries throughout Springfield. We encourage you to be a part of this vital ministry by volunteering your time or through food/monetary donations.

Feed the Children

On the fourth Sunday of each month volunteers prepare and serve a meal for 30 to 40 children at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. In addition, nutritious snack bags are distributed at Christmas and Easter when the children will be out of school. In the summer we prepare and serve more than 400 meals for the children and teachers at Vacation Bible School.

Helping Hands

On the first Tuesday and fourth Wednesday of each month a meal is prepared and served at Helping Hands homeless shelter.

Contact Ministries

On the third Tuesday of each month a meal is delivered to Contact Ministries women and children's shelter.

St. John's Breadline

Several times during the year the Feeding Ministry prepares and serves a breakfast meal at St. John’s Breadline.

Cathedral Food Challenge

Throughout the year, the Cathedral offers a challenge to its parishioners –line the sanctuary shelves with food. Items are donated to local food pantries. It’s a fun way for the whole family to participate in giving to those in need.

Planning Breakfast

Nothing runs smoothly without careful planning. The Feeding Ministry meets the third Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at Bob Evans in Prairie Crossing. Come and be a part of this dedicated group of volunteers.
