At the Cathedral, we take Jesus’ commandment to care for those less fortunate to heart. We have an active feeding ministry that prepares meals and food donations for shelters, feeding centers, and food pantries throughout Springfield. We encourage you to be a part of this vital ministry by volunteering your time or through food/monetary donations.

Feed the Children
On the fourth Sunday of each month volunteers prepare and serve a meal for 30 to 40 children at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. In addition, nutritious snack bags are distributed at Christmas and Easter when the children will be out of school. In June, we prepare and serve more than 400 meals for the children and teachers at Vacation Bible School.
Our next scheduled meals for Feed the Children will be September 27. Contact Jackie Charles for details.

Cathedral Food Challenge
Throughout the year, the Cathedral offers a challenge to its parishioners –line the sanctuary shelves with food. Items are donated to local food pantries. It’s a fun way for the whole family to participate in giving to those in need.
Due to the extreme need of the local food pantries, the “Your Choice” challenge will continue through the summer. Please be generous when remembering those in need. |
Planning Breakfast
Nothing runs smoothly without careful planning. The Feeding Ministry meets monthly at a local restaurant to plan menus for the upcoming meals.
Our next scheduled Planning Breakfast will be September 15 at 8:00 a.m. at Bob Evans in Prairie Crossing. Come and be a part of this dedicated group of volunteers. |
